anyone experience cancer survive who has became over religious?

My husband had prostrate cancer and is a surviver. Since that time he has became over religious. Pushing his family away when we do respond correctly to questions and becoming very angry. He watches evangelist every day on tv at least two to three times a day. He even said I had the devil in me. Dont know what to do. I am a church going person, and he will not go to church with me. Says the paster dont know what he is talking about. Our children 20 and 14 are at a wits ends. And myself.

I’m the same immovable atheist I always was, cancer didn’t change that.

Are you sure his new religious zeal comes from having had cancer? As you’re a churchgoer I’m guessing he was a believer before . I have met a few people through cancer support groups who say their cancer experience made their faith stronger – he just seems to have taken it several steps further.

Sorry, I don’t have any answers for you; I’m sorry you and your children are having such a difficult time.

After surviving a hard ordeal, a lot of people often turn to religion afterwards. It seems your husband though has taken it over the top, so to speak. From the way you said it, your husband was already a religious person.

I admit that it is hard to deal with issues especially if it concerns religion. The best thing I could think of is to let it go for now. Just let him be. If he becomes overbearing, talk to him. Hopefully he will see the “light” and come to his senses.
