Are there any free clinics or hospitals in the Philippines? My friend there might have cancer?

I have a friend in the Philippines and cancer runs in his family and he is getting symptoms for the last month. I guess you have to have money or you can’t go to the doctor. Is there anyway for him to get cancer screened without alot of money?

The Philippine General Hospital located in Taft Avenue corner Padre Faura in Ermita, Malate, is a free hospital and has free clinics.

PGH will require him to shell out a minimal fee to cover the expenses for radiation therapy or chemotherapy, whichever he will need.

PGH also does cancer screening (such as laparoscopy, biopsy, etc.) for free or a minimal fee.

The hospital in the Philippines are all about the money. You might want to look into humanitarian aid and non profit organizations that visit the country and provide medial treatments.

health care is cheap in the philippines compared to america. it will cost money for cancer screening but not nearly what it costs in america. i stayed in the hospital for 4 nights and the bill for the hospital stay, all tests done (not cancer tests) and all doctor bills equaled about $300 total.

hopefully you know this person very well and it is not someone trying to scam money out of you.

You can go to PGH…but its not HASSLE FREE…..you have to wait, wait, wait in line and you should have some contact inside,..they have to schedule you…etc.etc…plus the doctors there are just on their "learning" stage…….maybe he/she could ask some help to PCSO,..Once he gets a referral from the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office,..maybe the procedures/appointments will a lot be smoother….and if he/she has cancer(hopefully not)advise her to "stick" to the therapeutic regimen…cancer can be cured….it needs will, strentgh of mind. and of course the chemotherapy sessions..and good nurition.

No chance without alot of money. Its the blunt truth if your sick in the Philippines unless you have lots of money you won’t be treated properly. Perhaps you can fly him out of there and have him screened or tested in your country. It will atleast give you an idea and will cost relatively little compared to having someone screen him there.
