Hello:
Ok you go through what are called rounds of chemo or radiation to kill the cancer
in the breast. some are so small that they may only need one treatment and
others take a round of radiation or radiation and chemo. Every case is different.
I was told by one of my own aunts that once you had breast cancer it does
not come back which is false. I have had it 5 times now. even with no
breast they still are removing cancer from my chest wall. I have had radiation
2 X on my chest area. that is two rounds. as well as chemo. I hope this helps
you to understand. Cancer is hard to kill but at the same time we can do it.
We have to do it as there are too many of us who will die from it. And I
refuse to allow the cancer to win.

Excessive use of radiation isn't wise. Most Drs will use a variety of chemo drugs and there are a lot of good ones out there. My older sister had radiation in one breast as well as chemo. About 2 yrs later, she developed breast cancer in the other breast. Her Dr opted for chemo only this time because she doesn't like using radiation so much. She feels it can cause more problems if used to much. I guess it depends on your Dr and what she prefers to use. Good question though. Good luck. I wish you the best.

During radiation treatment the tumor is irradiated (radiation-ed) from different areas to minimize the damage to healthy tissue. There is a team of oncologists, physicists, and radiation therapists that work to minimize excess radiation dose.

The answer is no. The same breast will not be done twice it will destroy too much of the tissue.

Nope. I was told after radiation of my left breast that I could never receive radiation in that area again.
