Sana, talk to the concerned oncologist. Where do you reside? If you are in India, then Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute or AIIMS is suggested. If in Mumbai, then Tata Memorial is also a good option.
There is a limit to radiation therapy which cannot be safely exceeded.
Chemotherapy can continue indefinitely,
but it usually becomes ineffective in this disease.
You do not want to continue chemotherapy when it no longer is helping.
The side effects of chemotherapy are not worth enduring for no benefit.
Time is likely to be limited here.
Exactly how much – no one can tell you.
Radical surgery is the treatment of choice for esophageal cancer if it is possible by site, size and fitness of patient.
If tumor is large(As in this case) chemo and radiation is given as palliative therapy.
It may reduce the tumor size and may become surgically resecatble.
Chemo/radiation is palliative treatment not curative.
Surgery is the best option for good survival.
