Chemotherapy isn’t automatically recommended for breast cancer. Much depends on the individual’s particular cancer.
Many people diagnosed with breast cancer don’t have chemotherapy recommended as part of their treatment. Some don’t have radiotherapy either – I know a few women through support networks and through meeting them during my own treatment o who had early stage breast cancer who had surgery only, or surgery and hormone therapy only. I know others who had radiotherapy but not chemo, and some who had chemo but not radiotherapy.
If recommended to have chemotherapy and unsure of whether to proceed with it, talk to your oncologist about how it might benefit you. Ask by what percentage it will increase your survival chances – that’s what I did, and as the percentage was significant I decided to go ahead. A couple of women I have spoken to have decided that the percentage was too small to make it worthwhile going through chemo.
no, you can’t survive any cancer without going through the processes necessary to get rid of it. It will spread throughout your body, and turn into other types of cancer
In my case I had ductal In carcinoma insitu no radiation or chemo did I receive. Mind you it did require a mastectomy but I am now cancer free for 3 years now.
