A good self esteem is important because when we have it, we are more capable of bouncing back from life’s knocks. When hypnosis affects the self esteem, it is geared to addressing personal issues and it addresses the subconscious mind and why we feel that worthless and do not need or deserve to be loved and appreciated.

Despite the fact that there are many psychological responses to cancer, there is at least one that is universal–the heightened sense of anxiety experienced even by the most well balanced individuals. Psychological harmony can be difficult to achieve with the range of feelings which include anger, resentment, guilt, alienation, hopelessness, failure, low self esteem, bitterness and loss.

Hypnosis goes under more than one name, – hypnotherapy, hypnotic suggestion, self-hypnosis and hypnotic state. Psychologically it can be defined as a psychological state which superficially resembles sleep, but it is characterized by a level of consciousness and awareness which is distinct from the normal conscious state. Whilst hypnotized most patients have a heightened degree of sensitivity and receptiveness to their inner perceptions and are more aware of their subconscious thoughts.

During the 1970’s and 80’d an Australian psychologist Ainslie Meares started to study the effects of
meditation on the immune system with a specific question as to whether or not it was possible to shrink
the size of tumours by meditation.
