Of course it’s easy to say ‘don’t panic’ but hearing the news that you have cancer is likely to test most of us. But in this article let’s try and take a calm look at the situation. The word we are discussing is panic. We are not talking about worry or concern or even sadness or distress, all of which are common responses to the news of a cancer diagnosis. It is happening constantly in places around the globe. There may be wars and disputes which divide people but in cancer research we are untied. Scientists share discoveries and publish papers on breakthroughs.

Kidney cancer has direct links to a person’s urine because the kidneys play a vital role in filtering waste products out of our blood. And like other forms of cancer, kidney cancer may not immediately produce symptoms or, if and when symptoms do appear they may have done so for reasons other than cancer. A person with an infection or a cyst for example, will present as would someone with kidney cancer. Initially a tumor in the kidney may be very small in which case there may well be few if any symptoms at all.

The colon is part of the body’s digestive system and, like many other parts of the body, can become a place for the growth of cancer. A tumor in this region is known as colon cancer. And like some other cancers, the tumor can develop without necessarily giving the patient obvious signs or symptoms, certainly at the beginning of the disease. And again like some other cancers, the patient can have symptoms which are common to colon cancer without the cancer being there at all.

Cervical cancer is one of the more insidious types of cancer because there may seem to be no symptoms of the disease or the symptoms may appear only once the disease has become well-established in the woman’s body. This makes regular health checks all the more important and a Pap smear test on an annual basis essential for all women. Safety first is an excellent motto.
