Chemotherapy Clinic Help I need information from cancer patient. Thanks?

I am opening a Chemo Center. My sister just went threw chemo, and passed from cancer. I am open a chemo center in her memory. I wish her experience would have been easier on her physically and mentally. I want feed back on the experiences others have had, likes, dislikes. What they would change or they think should have been offered. Also pls tell me good experiences as well. I will be taking everything into consideration. Thanks so much in advance. Also if I forget to ask something you think I should know pls add that as well.
The clinic will be for families that unfortunatly can not afford to go to a big reaserch facility

Let me say that I admire you for wanting to do something in your sister’s name. I am in remission from the apl form of aml leukemia(2 years and 7 months) and I too went to a major research institute as I had no function hardly at all from my blood system and only 40% of heart function. I went to Vanderbilt mainly because I had no choice. This is where you get your inspiration from. Please contact a major health institute and see what they say. I am so thankful there are now physicians within 15 miles from where I live now that are associated with Vanderbilt Hospital as I am close to 300 miles away. I can keep up with my tests without having to go that far.I do however think they could have been more open as to what could happen by taking chemo if you could not tolerate it.. I do think that I had some of the best care out there. I could not have asked for more caring nurses than what I had or doctors either. They would come in and watch movies or just talk if you needed someone to talk to. I had the amenities of a vcr-dvd player, as well as a refrigerator in my room. Other than dieing 3 times it was not so bad there. So get going and talk to people and see what can be done to set up an outpatient clinic in your area.

First, let me say that I am sorry for your loss.

Because your desire to help others is so strong, I would like to share some information that you might find very useful.

Cancer isn’t necessarily a death sentence. In fact, most cancers are curable.

People tend to associate dehydration with spending a week in the desert with no water. But as hard as it is to believe, a person can have plenty of water in their body and still be dehydrated.

Let me explain – the body is composed of a 75% solution of water and salt that must be kept in a critical balance to maintain proper health. This water is broken into two "oceans" – one inside the cells and one outside the cells. The outside ocean injects water and nutrients into the cells as needed.

When we don’t drink enough water, it signals the body to store extra salt to retain the water. This is called edema. Again, this extra water is the result of dehydration.

When we don’t drink enough water, the cells don’t receive the proper nutrients they need to function correctly. Prolonged dehydration will cause tissue damage and disease.

People don’t recognize when they need water. They’re under the belief that drinking soft drinks, coffee, tea and other alternatives will supply them with their daily water needs. Actually, these alternative drinks really act as a diuretic and pull water OUT of the body. Add to this the water we lose through respiration and normal kidney function and we’re talking a lot of water that isn’t being replaced.

Signs of dehydration include, fatigue, headache, constipation, heartburn and many other minor afflictions that we pass off as everyday nuisances. Thirst is not a reliable barometer to indicate when we need to take a drink. By the time we answer to thirst, the effects of dehydration have already been felt by the body.

One of the things that happen when the body doesn’t get the water it needs through normal drinking is, it will take the water it needs from other sources, such as food and switch on our hunger response. While we may have trouble recognizing when we need to drink water, we certainly have no trouble recognizing hunger. Obesity is the obvious result of this – along with diabetes, IBS and other problems associated with obesity.

Another place the body likes to fill its water needs is from the blood. The blood is made up of 90% water. When the body takes the water from the blood, the blood thickens and causes the heart to have to pump harder to deliver blood to every part of the body. This is what the medical profession calls hypertension (or high blood pressure).

So, you see, when people get dehydrated, the body reacts in many different ways, and all kinds of problems develop – including cancer. Cancer is the result of tissue damage caused by a water deficiency in the cells, allowing an acidic environment to develop.

It appears that the medical community doesn’t understand such a simple concept as looking to dehydration as the root cause of the problem before prescribing medications and treatment that only addresses the symptoms.

Dehydration can be reversed, and so can the diseases that are caused by dehydration. But there’s a proper way to do it. You’ll need to get this info from the website link below.

No offence intended but I had my chemo at a major cancer research hospital and there is no way I would have, or let anyone I cared about, get chemo at a clinic. I simply would not trust them to have the resources necessary to cope with the possible complications, nor would I trust their pharmacological expertise.

A small clinic will still have to pay for the chemo drugs which are not cheap. It will still have to pay for an experienced pharmacist because many of these drugs have to be mixed right before delivery and I would surely hope that they would still have to have emergency personnel at hand. I don’t see how this is going to be less expensive. If anything it will be more costly due to economies of scale.
