Do you think that the medical field places too much priority on speed?

Is certain medical settings, I see a great deal of priority on getting the patients in and out as fast as possible. If the goal is to get them in better health, does not this seem like a contradiction? The average dialysis clinic is a clear example of what I see. Surgical Techs also say they are rushed. Maybe mistakes in cancer treatment is related to the mad rush, rush, rush also. Safety checks on equipment may being skipped. In fact they ARE being skipped in some clinics. What are your thoughts?

I think this boils down to two primary issues: number one is the priority of the hospitals is always to turn patients around quickly because they are under pressure from insurance companies and the insurance adjusters who closely monitor and scrutinize their practices. Number two is that the U.S. health care system is under-funded and over-whelmed. There are too many patients for the number of medical facilities and not enough money or insurance to cover everyone’s health needs. So YES you are correct, there ends up being way too much emphasis on speed.
