Does anyone know where a free clinic is?
->
Hi,
I am a college student who is working partime and have no insurance. I have not had a well woman exam in about 2 years. I am extremely past due and I want to get checked out. I don’t have any funds or insurance and I am barely getting by. My parents really don’t have the money to help me either. Does anyone know of government assistance to help me get into the doctor at very little to no cost to see a doctor. I am really needing a check up. Cervical cancer runs in my family and I need a pap smear. I live in the houston tx area, so any kind of aid in that area or 100 miles in any direction would be nice. If you do have some info please provide me with a number or link. I am in serious need of health care. Please help. Thanks

I know of one in Lorain, Ohio.
When I was in college some services from the campus clinic were covered ( like the well woman exam), call yours and check. Also Planned Parenthood would be a good place to get your exam done, here is a link for the Houston site.

See if your college has some kind of group health insurance. I know my university includes it in my tution fee. Contact your student union to see if it does.
Go to Planned Parenthood. They have Nurse Practitioners that do their exams. Call them and tell them your situation. They have forms to fill out that will require a couple of paycheck stubs and or last years tax return. They helped me out when I was young and broke and they maintain strict confidentiality. Good Luck!
I’ve gone to Planned Parenthood, they were great and it cost me $15.
If your parents have health insurance they should be able to add you to their policy, since you’re in college. Or you could look into a low cost student insurance policy. Of course if you can’t afford to see a doctor, how are you going to afford a monthly insurance payment, even a low one? Check out the student health clinic; should be low cost, if not free (included w/ your tuition).
I don’t have insurance either so I feel your pain.
Not having insurance sucks! I have a free/ low cost clinic near me I payed like 15 for a pap. and prescriptions are 5 dollars. So I am sure that you can find one. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,Good luck
go to the nearest planned parenthood. dont wait to do either, then its harder to do anything if u need to take precautions. usually if they know u r a student they offer services for free and discounted rates.
