Does the radiation from cell phones cause cancer?
->
Well particularly, is your chance for cancer higher if you go to sleep on a cell phone or sleep with it very close to you while it’s on? I’m looking for people who are going off of more than just their personal opinions. ![]()

Yup. As does plastic bottles, glasses, sippy cups and teethers, toys, paint on them.. etc etc. etc. With cells phones the battery and radiation isn’t a good thing (when we get older, microwaving plastic containers will be our generation’s smoking — wait and see — as chemicals pass right into the food, and plastics are made from petroleum). Meanwhile, I wrote ad copy for 3 large cell makers – and knew that Congress was planning ratings, in 3 levels.. not IF, but HOW MUCH radiation was emitted by each one.. and that legislation was buried, and never revisited — thanks to the mega cell phone lobby, and buying the goofballs that occupy our Congress, Senate etc. News shows don’t actually report anything — they read from prepared media releases, and show video. Can you imagine the boycott from wireless & communications companies that will NOT advertise, think of the 100s of millions and why things don’t get aired or printed — and the law-suits if they showed some 50-something that could trace his brain cancer to his cell or even worse, headsets for driving/ear pieces.. that were required by LAW to avoid tickets? hello?
Try and stay organic too, and drink from glass or paper.
everything can be said to cause cancer these days.
would you actually stop using your cell?
cmon.
There is no evidence to claim it causes cancer, so for the time being all the scientists say no.
IMO life is short, even if it causes cancer you are still more likely to die of a heart attack or homicide, so im sure you can get away with putting that sucker under your pillow.
it probably does but you would have to use it all the time, besides there is also radiation (small amount) every time you use the microwave
furthermore by the time it hits your probably in an age that you just don’t care anymore about anything else
FACT: It causes less cancer than talking to someone in person.
This is an interesting question. I know of no information specifically dealing with sleeping on your cell phone or number of hours on the cell phone but there does exist some info on this.
The best studies I am aware of on the topic were a number of years ago in Sweden where cell phone use caught on much more quickly than in North America. They compared cell phone users to non-users (and a few tried to compensate for how much useage) and looked at cancer incidence – especially in the brain.
In general, studies showed NO increase in cancer risk amongst cell phone users. A few studies DID show an increase risk in a acoustic neuromas (also called acoustic Schwannomas) which are benign brain tumours, which can nonetheless still cause problems if allowed to grow. Future meta-analyses of many studies ended up concluding that this was not true and that there was no increased risk of any tumours – cancer or otherwise.
So bottom line with the best info to date: doesn’t cause cancer. May cause slight increase in benign brain tumour, but probably not.
