i had chemo and radiotherapy for tongue cancer,the chemo was bad enough but the rt floored me.i had to have 35 sessions.it has killed off my saliva glands so i have a constant dry mouth,no taste buds except a continual taste of salt in my mouth and everything i drink tastes of salt.i cannot eat at all and i have a tube fitted into my stomach to feed me a liquid nuitrition.also regular bouts of thrush in my mouth and throat but the worse thing is i keep getting toothache and my dentist will not do any work on my teeth because of the problems rt can cause to gums so i have to go to the maxillfacial unit at the hospital for any treatment.i am in terrible pain today with a toothache that started last week and i am waiting for the hospital to see me so my g.p has given 500mgs of amocillan and tramadol for the pain which is not helping.my cancer may have come back and i will get the result of the biopsies on jan 2nd.i just hope that if it has come back they won’t give me any more radiotherapy.like you i was depressed for sometime and did not want to do anything,i hope you get your life back on track soon love.

My mom had breast cancer back in 1993 and had to get radiation as part of her treatment. She didn’t need chemotherapy, because the cancer hadn’t spread to the lymph nodes. The only thing she noticed is that she was tired and now she’s cold all the time. She can never get warm.

well about the 3rd week , i was burnt with it , have to rub heaps on cream on myself and very tired to the end of by course.. other wise i was fine

I had chemo and rt at the same time, 30 sessions rt with 42 doses chemo. About halfway through, my hair starting falling out where the radiation went in and bounced around. Other than that, I was just peachy till my last treatment. Then I got really tired for about 3 days. I put on a few pounds from my steroids I took for 2 weeks following my surgery. My skin on my temple area tanned and also on my head. It’s really dry also. Keeping it moisturized helps. Where the incision was, it has stayed swollen from the irritation of the radiation. I’ll take it all to keep my brain tumor at bay.
