Hello, My dad was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 and was on chemo until last summer where he started a new drug?
->
After 9 months on the drug he began having back problems, he found out the cancer metastasis to his spine causing a spinal tumor. He got it removed and there was excessive bleeding and he was hospitalized for 3 months (2 of which in ICU). Now Post-sugery he is paralyzed waist down and has lost a significant amount of weight. He has recently began chemo again. Do you think he will be okay? He is ONLY 45.
Oh it was prostate cancer

computerfreak – When cancer of the prostate spreads (metastasizes), it commonly spreads to bone of the pelvis and spinal column. Successful surgical removal of tumor from the spine is usually done to ease pain and nearby nerve damage, not to get a cure. It’s not possible to know at first if the cancer has spread elsewhere in the body so that the future cannot be predicted with accuracy. Chemotherapy, and there are different types of chemo, is sometimes successful. Overall, the outlook is not good, but miracles and unexpected cures have occurred in the past.
No one can really tell its depends on weather his body can cope with another round of chemo but the survival rate is higher than ever so hope for the best and good luck to him and your family!!
Aww, I’m sorry to hear this. But no one can tell you whether he’ll be ok. Of course, it’s not a good sign that the cancer has metastasized, but that still doesn’t tell the whole story. As a VERY general rule, they don’t like operating on mets, especially on places like the spine, unless they think there’s a good chance it can be fully removed, so that might be a wee bit of good sign.
I’m sure that they’re using a different chemo this time, since the first one didn’t work, and maybe this one will be more effective. Good luck.
If he is paralyzed, he is not ok. But he should do as the doctors advise him to do. You could fast and pray or form a prayer circle around him of people fasting and praying. Also he could look into Max Gerson’s cancer treatment. Mostly it is a vegetarian diet, consisting of a lot of juice…
I am very sorry to hear this. No one can say whether he will be okay or not. However, I would prepare myself for his passing if I were you. I don’t think diet can help. Sometimes, even chemo can’t help because he is already in such a weakened condition. Spend as much time with him as you can right now. Remember, death is part of the cycle of life.
If you can convince him to go gluten free during his chemo, the immune boost the diet gives is exactly what is needed to help his immune system cope with the chemo.
Many people cannot believe the benefits of this new "Fad" diet. Celiac disease is genetically present in over 90% of the worlds public and we should not be eating wheat.
I’m sorry to hear that, but i was diagnosed with cancer in 2007 in Stage 4, and i’m still here. i have breast cancer that has spread to my bones, including my spine and vertebra. I am currently on a second chemo drug as well. And this one has a lot less side effects to me. maybe your dad will be the same. I wish you and him a lot of luck, just don’t give up. weight loss is a side effect of chemo where you lose interest in food, even if you’re hungry.
Three months of hospital food!? No wonder he lost weight honey. That stuff is designed to either cure you or kill you. It’s too bad he is going through round two of cancer. But with better drugs, and better side effect control he can achieve remission. Also there will be days he feels like crap, and not like eating. Here is a link to a good nutrition guide with recipes. You can download it in PDF.
