I would say the earlier the cancer is detected, the better the chance of survival.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer and finished treatment about 6 months ago. So far so good. When I was diagnosed, I was between a Stage 2 and Stage 3. My tumor was a Grade 3 or something like that. It was growing very rapidly and was aggressive. I had just turned 39 when it was diagnosed, but I believe it first came on while I was 38.

Fortunately, I just had to go through chemo and radiation. I had surgery, but only a lumpectomy, so nothing is noticeable.

I believe they have advanced a lot since a while back, so mortality rates are lower. It is not the death sentence people used to think it was.

So, to sum it up, I can vouch for one survivor… me =)

I believe Suzanne pretty much said it. Let me add however that treatments aren’t the only thing that’s helping people survive breast cancer. Technology has also helped in making detection faster and easier. As you may well know, detecting breast cancer in its early stages can greatly help in ensuring that the patient get treatments immediately.
