how to help relieve a cancer patient with chemo side effects?

my nana was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer and started chemo this past monday
her symptoms started today (nausea, dizziness, tired, etc.)
do you have any ideas on how to help make her feel better
i don’t know how bad it is but it seems really bad and hearing her say she’d "rather die" is horrifying
please any cancer patients out there? how do you deal with the side effects of chemo after treatment? and how many days do you usually feel bad after symptoms start in between treatments?

Depends on the chemo. There are many different types.

When I did mine, I was sick as hell the entire time. There were no breaks. Mine was for a rare brain cancer though, and I had to take all kinds of horrible pills in addition to the injections/drips.

Her oncologist might have some suggestions based on her age and general health for her specific side effects.

Please avoid chemo. It is actually killing the patient.

Cancer patient doesn’t even die from cancer. They die from
    the treatment of cancer.

Cancer is curable now. Please check the facts at

The first felt the worst because I didn’t know what to expect. Some days I didn’t do anything. Small walks helped, something about the fresh air and oxygen helped. Foods should be room temp or cold and I found white foods were the easiest to eat. No tomatoes, or citrus… Tasted bitter. Heating pad for sore joints and a leg rub helped. It seemed like the nausea wouldn’t ever go away, but it did. Make sure she takes the antinausia drugs, don’t skip a dose. I found days 3 to 7 were the worst. After the second, shell know what’s coming. Good luck.

It varies from individual to individual, some peoples symptoms are more painful than others, but none the less the symptoms are painful, the best you can do is make sure she is eating nutritious meals, moderately getting exercise, and most of all she needs to be on the right kind of pain meds that can help the pain severely, and vitamins.
