I have rectal cancer,I do not want chemo or radiation, does that make sense to anyone but me?

I BELIEVE GOD MAKES THE DECISION WHETHER YOU LIVE OR DIE REGARDLESS OF CHEMO OR RADIATION.

I believe that God had placed me in the care of a world renowned oncologist and researcher that had traveled half way across the world to a hospital 15 minutes from my house. This doctor saved my life with chemotherapy and I thank God and the doctor every day. It is your life, so you can do whatever you wish to do with it. Ultimately, you will be leaving your family behind. You dont only do chemotherapy for yourself, you do it for your loved ones as well. I am sorry for you having to go through this.

Believe what you want, but haven’t you also heard that God helps those who help themselves?

God does make the decision, but God also gave humans the intelligence, ability, and materials to develop technologies to prolong lives and to give us a higher quality of life while we are here.

It does not make any sense to me either because God put doctors on this earth to cure illnesses and it would be stupid to cut your life short and die a painful death when possibly this could be cured and you could live much longer. Depending on how the answers go, I think your thinking is skewed because I believe most people would allow doctors to do what they were put here to do – cure people if at all possible. Your decision seems to be a selfish one, not taking into consideration the needs of the rest of your family.

You should always take God’s will into account when making serious decisions. This does not mean you should not also consider other factors. Have your doctor explain to you the potential risks and benefits of any proposed therapy as well as your long term outlook without any treatment whatsoever. When all the facts are clear to you make your informed decision. If things do not seem quite clear get a second opinion before deciding. Don’t shortchange yourself on a decision this important. God would want you to fulfill your human potentiality in every way possible before working his will on you.

Makes sense to me. When I was in Vietnam I carried a single bullet in my web gear. I wasn’t going to be taken prisoner. One round in the head, not a problem, Same with you on the other end. Good Luck!!

    Why don’t you want treatment?

You must realize that this pretty much condemns you to a slow death …

My family and I are serious Christians…. but God gave us free will. If it was God’s will to have you die a painful death, he wouldn’t have had the doctor show up and offer you treatment.

I think you should try the chemo and radiation. If God wanted you dead, you would aready be. Do you realize how painful this is. I am watching my mother die from what started out as rectal cancer, she waited too long to see about it and now there is nothing the doctor’s can do. She is in so much pain all the time. Just think something the size of an orange in your butt. You do know that it will just keep growing, right? She has to wear diapers because of the drainage and it smells rotten. It spread to her lungs and we believe now it is in her brain. It is the worst thing I have ever seen. You also should consider your family because it is not only you that will suffer.

You make sense to me.Why have the treatment and suffer side effects. So if you want to show people that you can fight cancer, here is how.
This is the free alternative to chemotherapy for cancer patients.Do it and you will know from the future test results. You can also do it alongside any medical treatment.
Cancer hates oxygen and cannot live in a high-oxygen environment. If you want to supplement the medical treatment you receive(or not receive) with some alternative therapy then this is for you. You need to help your body to build up your immune system. The breathing exercises – pranayam is a holistic approach creating extra oxygen supply in the body and will slowly help with the health problem.Do the pranayam to see the benefits.Build up your timing slowly and after four weeks at the suggested maximum duration you will start to notice benefits gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume later.
What is known: pranayam helps the body heal itself. How it works in the body is not known – but people may build their own theory. You have to do it yourself for your benefit.
The small print: Keep doing pranayam after you are better for minimum 30 minutes a day for rest of life to maintain health.

People who have been treated successfully, should do pranayam as well, as there is a chance of recurrence.

    The pranayam techniques:
Bhastrika – Take a long deep breath into the lungs(chest not tummy) via the nose and then completely breathe out through the nose.Duration upto 5 minutes.

Kapalbhati -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day.(Max 60 min/day) Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.

Anulom Vilom – Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed deep breath-in through right nostril
then – close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day(maximum 60 minutes in one day).
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
    Duration : 5 to 10 times

Only by doing you will benefit and will feel good that you can do something to help the body.Copy and print this to improve your technique and stay focused. This is simplified pranayam for everyone and you do not have to go to classes to learn. This is for life, unlike short term classes where you do it in the class then stop when classes are over.

God may make the decision but maybe He uses man to put His plans in motion. How else did the chemo shrink my breast cancer so quickly?

Please don’t discount the possibility that God would want you to get treated.

You do not give any additional information about the staging of your cancer so you are either a troll or possibly someone newly diagnosed with cancer and still in the freaking out stage. The freaking out stage is normal. We all went throught it. Sometimes several times.

You can do what you want. I believe God created very talented Drs to help give life to mankind.

Since I am guessing that you are still freaked out and really do not know the implications of what you are saying I will tell you some facts. Cancer often has a narrow window of opportunity for acheiving a cure or durable remission. If you decide to avoid treatment then while you are doing so the cancer is spreading and multiplying. Let’s say a year down the road you finally figure out that untreated cancer really sucks and you want to change your mind. Yes the Drs will still be able to treat you with chemo or radiation but these treatments will no longer be able to cure you but just provide palliative treatment. Where prompt treatment could have spared your anus you would now only have the option of a colostomy or worse.

yes, chemo and radiation sucks and is difficult. However many thousands of people each year manage to tough it out and are today walking cancer free. Just deciding to not do any treatments is not an easy way out becuase humans are tough and hard to kill. This means you could suffer terribly for a very long time and in a much more severe manner than being properly managed by an oncologist.

You do what you want. Just remember there might not be any changing your mind after a certain point in time and dying untreated is not the easy way out.

    good luck with your decision
