If you have a cold or a flu could that delay you getting chemo treatments if you are fighting cancer?
Last week I had a port put inside my body so that could start chemo treatments for my cancer. A day or two after the operation, I somehow caught my mother’s nasty cold or flu. Could this cold or flu somehow delay my chemo treatments for my cancer? Why or why not?

That will be up to your oncologist. They will probably do a blood count first to see if you have an active bacterial infection. You would not want to take chemo if you have an infection because the chemo kills the good cells with the bad cells, including your blood cells that fight infection (white blood cells). If you have to wait a week until you are better, it will be ok. God bless you and good luck. Remember that attitude is 90% of everything!
