Im trying to raise money for my uncle recently diagnosed with cancer. Any ideas? I need help please.?

My uncle was just recently diagnosed with cancer and he has three children and a wife and no health insurance. He just had cancer last week and will start chemotherapy treatments in a few weeks starting at ,000 a piece. Our family is trying to raise money and we would appreciate any support. Thank you.

Is he old enough to get medicare? If he can get medicare, have him get a secondary insurance through a compassionate payer. I do medical billing & Chronic Disease Fund might be able to help as a secondary payer & pick up what medicare won’t. If he’s not old enough for medicare, see if he qualifies for medicaid through the state he lives in.

you can also do what I did. email his friends & family. People want to help, but don’t know what to do. donating money for this cause is something they can do.
    Good luck!

I’m really sorry about your uncle, I pray that everything goes well for him and his family.

You can go to a local church and ask them to have that little basket of donations go around to help your uncle. They will probably make an announcement for you.

    Good luck!

I would try to organize a benefit. Start by gathering people in the family to handle various tasks.
Then you will need to get a banquet facility to hold it at, this can be free you just have to call and ask if they would do it for you for the benefit, some may say no, but you’re sure to find one that will. After this is set, you can get signs made (again this can usually be donated) and hang them at local places such as gas stations and restraunts… you can also take coffee cans and put a picture as well as a write up of what the collection if for at these places if they will allow that.
You will need to set up a bank account for the benefit fund.
Contact local stores to get food and raffle items donated. Again, some will say no but a lot of places will donate items and or gift certificates.
Try to get a few "big" prizes and sell raffle tickets for that.
I saw at a benefit I went to a wheelbarrow filled with liquor and they sold $5 raffle tickets for this and boy was it a hot item… I’m not a big fan of that however it did generate a lot of money!!!! Talk to local radio and television stations to see if they will advertise for you as well….
Make sure you do 50/50 raffles through out the night as this again will generate money… Try not to do a cover charge, as this will decrease the total turn out… a person may go to "check it out" if it’s free and think "I’ll spend a dollar or two" and then when there end up spending more, but if you charge $5 or $10 at the door it may scare away people who aren’t wanting to spend money really but would go and check it out and end up spending anyways.
You can try to get a band to play, again few may say no but you will surely find one.

Benefits take a good deal of work but the outcome is always worth it!!!!! If radio or TV stations advertise for you make sure they include the bank where the fund is set up to encourage people to stop there and make a donation if they’d like. Many people are effected by cancer and are more then wanting to donate because of personal experiences.

If you have any questions you can send me a message, I have done a benefit before so I know what steps need to be taken.
