inoperable Stage 3 lung cancer survival rate ?

My 72-year-old grandmother has been diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. The doctor says it is inoperable. She stated radiation therapy this week (they have not said anything about chemo) She has been a smoker since the 1950′s and she is currently still smoking. What are her chances of survival?

Well, I’ll put it to you like this, Stage 4 is terminal & given 6 to 8 months to live.

Stage 3 isn’t to promising. I’m not sure why the Dr.’s aren’t doing Chemo (kills your white blood cells) but at least they are gonna do radiation to try to shrink the mass since it’s inoperable to give her a little more time here.

I’m sorry honey. I’m not trying to be mean, I’m just being honest.

The best advice I can give you is to start asking her questions about your heritage. Ask her to tell you stories. Start writing things down. This will give you cherished memories.
