Is it a poor prognosis for breast cancer patient to find 2.5cm positive node after yr of chemo/rads/hercep?
->
Diagnosed a year ago with invasive ductal carcinoma. Had lumpectomy and 22 lymph nodes removed ( 14 positive).Now just over a year later, discover a node ( 2.5cm) maybe positive in opposite armpit. Advised new round of chemo may be necessary. Have been optimistic about recovery. Now wondering.

I was told that breast cancer usually don’t metastasize from one breast to the other. . .but saying that it can move in blood stream and go wherever it want. I’m on my second breast cancer surgery and chemo. SO, if I was you I would get a second opinion. This is your life and ultimately you need to made the decisions about your treatment. I insisted on Petscan to see if it was anywhere else. A petscan is expensive IF you dont’s have insurance ($4000) . But get a second opinion (if possible). It may be nothing. So it will give you peace of mind if you don’t have or it will give the informtion you need to make an informed decision.
Don’t give up! There are alot of out us out here that have gone through it twice. Good luck! You might want to check out the Susan G Koman sight for further information.
