Chemo and radiation therapies are different for each patient, determined by the type and size of the tumor(s). If you don’t feel your oncologist is on the right track, then go see another doctor for a second opinion. But keep going to the radiation sessions in the mean time.
I had stage 2 breast cancer in my right breast, but because I had more than one tumor, they removed the breast (and I made them take the left one off as well) and they followed up with chemo. I didn’t need radiation, as all the breast tissue was removed.
Chemo and radiation are two very different treatments. In my own case I had chemo to shrink the tumor, surgery to remove the tumor and am about to start radiation in case any cancer cells made it to my lymph nodes and to help prevent any cells in my breast from turning to cancer.
Think about it this way. The medical community has treated countless breast cancer patients and they know what works.
This is of utmost importance that you should complete the therapy and alse according to the ER/PR status your requirement of hormonal therapy be considered.
Incomplete therapy is associated with higher and earlier chances of relapses.
You have to make an informed decision about this with your medical team. It is hard to give advise without more info. But in my opinion , if your doctors recommend it, I would say do it. All my best to you in your fight.
This is no different how people stop taking anti-biotics after the symptoms disappears (before the full prescription) then are surprised when the infection comes back. Talk to your Oncologist, they may change the treatment requirements based on any improvements. Like others have stated, no one can force you to take the treatments.
