Men with breast cancer: How did you first realize you had a possible tumor?
->
How does breast cancer in men first manifest in a way that the man would notice it and know to have it checked out? My son is eighteen, and recently let me know he had a lump behind his nipple which is about the size of a large pea. He said it had been there for a while, but seemed to have gotten larger recently. He said it only hurts when pressure is applied. I took him to an urgent care clinic, where they referred us directly to a breast clinic to have an ultrasound. Now, his regular doctor is to see him tomorrow with the report. In the meantime, we got a letter today from the breast clinic advising that they saw s
My question got cut off somehow when it posted. Here’s the rest:…we got a letter today from the breast clinic advising that they saw something that needed further evaluation. Of course I am now scared, but trying not to panic. My son’s dealing with it well. My biggest concern is that my son is extremely thin (5′-10" and only 130 lbs), and has very little fatty tissue. This is so rare that I have no one I can ask personally about it.

Nearly all men with breast cancer find a lump themselves, as they do not have routine screenings and have far less breast tissue than we do so it is easier to find. However, it is very unlikely your son has breast cancer. For one less than 1% of all breast cancers occur in men. Second, it is very rare for a teenager to get breast cancer. From 1975 to 2000, less than 0.1% of all breast cancer occurred in women under 30 years of age. By all means get it checked out, but try not to worry about it.
i had same problem 10 yrs ago,
but it disapeared without doing anything,
apparently it was "grease ball".
but i suggest that he see a doctor anyways.
Men can get breast cancer?
That’s news to me. =O
The symptoms of breast cancer in males are the same as in females.
But fewer than 1% of those diagnosed with breast cancer are male.
And 80% of all people diagnosed with cancer are over 50; most men diagnosed with it are over 60.
It’s rare in women under 40, and almost unheard of in under 20s.
So you can see how huge the odds against a 18 year old male having breast cancer are.
Most breast lumps in men are actually a condition called gynaecomastia, a button-like growth under the nipple and areola area that can be felt and is sometimes visible to the naked eye. Occasionally it can be quite tender.
This increase in the amount of breast tissue is not a tumour and occurs due to changes in hormone balances at times like adolescence.
You didn’t complete your question, so I don’t know what the letter from the clinic said, but I do hope all is well and that they found nothing to worry about.

My sister who was afflicted with Diabetes and very advanced at that , when we have use up almost all of her savings and properties due to medicines and treatments . Our Doctor in Quezon City Medical center , advised us to have her checked in Quirino Memorial because he is a consultant there and his residents will taking care of my sister under his supervision . This is a Government hospital but their services and Doctors and nurses as well as staff are very compassionate and kind . They have diagnostic equipment there and am very sure they have CAT Scan there . You only have to pay for diagnostics at very low price . No fees for Doctors and Nurses as well as Oxygen , room and meals..
