PLEASE HELP my cat has a rare aggressive cancer?
->
My cat Evie had what we thought was hemobart two weeks ago, but didn’t respond to therapy. She was anemic and weak, not really eating. I took her to Tufts University (Foster Clinic) on Sunday and they told me she has a rare aggressive cancer. I can’t really make out just what it is, but she has chylous effusion in her abdomen (fluid), mesenteric nodules (tumors in her intestinal tissues) and "increased mesenteric/ileocolic/jejunal LNs". I’m not sure what the diagnosis is, but they don’t believe its lymphosarcoma. The report says its probably a highly aggressive form of carcinomatosis. She had a blood transfusion, but is too weak for a biopsy. They suggested I just take her home and keep her on prednisilone until she’s ready to die. How can I be sure it’s really cancer? Could it be anything else? She doesn’t have a fever. She is slipping so fast I don’t know what to do. I’ve been feeding her straight chicken baby food and giving her syringes of water, but she’s not eating now (she ate last night). What else could it be? I’m so afraid the prednisilone will make anything else WORSE. Why why would my little Evie get so sick?

I am so sorry to read about your cat and this terrible disease, cancer. Tufts is an excellent veterinary school and clinic and it sounds like they have done a really extensive workup on her.
I think we all go through some form of denial when we receive a devastating diagnosis for a beloved pet, and hope that the diagnosis was incorrect. We look for any small sign that might prove that the diagnosis is wrong, such as not having a fever.. and that it could be something else… even in the face of a positive pathology report.
Prednisilone is an anti-inflammatory drug often given to cats with cancer, and can also serve as an appetite stimulant. I had a kitty with a devastating cancer years ago,and for the last few weeks of her life, we kept her more comfortable with a slightly perked up appetite by giving her a low dose injection daily.
You are doing all you can for your cat, and I do know how upsetting this kind of illness can be for the people that love their pets in the obvious way that you do.
But I do have one last suggestion if you really do need a secondary opinion. I am guessing that you live in the same state where Tufts University is, so you are not that far from New York State- Westchester County. There is an excellent holistic veterinarian who has done some amazing things with late stage terminal cancers. His name is Dr. Martin Goldstein. Here is his website. A phone call consultation may be of help.

He worked wonders with my cat with Fibrosarcoma, extending her life with excellent quality for 18 months. I highly recommend him.
He has written several books about alternative medicine for pets, and is Oprah Winfrey’s vet. I trust him with any of my cat’s lives.
Hope this helps and my heart goes out to you. Feel free to email me anytime.

I have no idea what is wrong with your poor kitty. All I can say is I am so sorry.
You and your kitty will be in my prayers.
Take her to an emergency veterinary office. She might not be as sick as they say she is. It all came on too fast (IMO) for it to be cancer.
As a friend, I would like you to know I have been where you are right now, and the kindest thing you could do for your dear cat is to grant her the ability to peacefully move on. I made the cowardly mistake of keeping my pet alive just out of selfishness, and I realized, too late, just how sick and sad she was. If vets have given you that much of a detailed report on Evie’s condition, then it is safe to assume they are sure that she is this sick. Be kind to her, let her have the release she needs. I know just how worried and scared and sad you are, but if you think of this from her point of view, wouldn’t you want the person you love to do the right thing? CGive her the rest she desperately needs. I will pray for you and her. Peace.
Jeez, I’m so sorry that your kitty is that sick.
If she were my cat, since at this point they’ve given her no hope, I’d keep giving her the baby food. I would also get to the health food store for a bottle of Colloidal Silver (10-20 ppm) and a canister or tubes of Probios (should be available at feed stores or vet clinics). I would give her doses of Colloidal Silver instead of water every 15 minutes and every 15 minutes or so, I’d give her a couple cc’s of Probios. The Colloidal Silver will NOT intefere with any drugs you may be giving her, but it WILL kill virus, bacteria, fungi, protozoa. The Probios will replace her GOOD bacteria and give her immune system a boost.
What if, just what if the Colloidal Silver and Probios started to make a positive difference? They are both such remarkable products that it’s worth a shot, and the upside is there’s no downside. No negative reactions, no downside. I’ve saved so many near dead Parvo puppies with these two items combined with Pedialyte and I have SOOOO many other positive experiences with my pets and people and babies with these 3 products. I know your cat doesn’t have Parvo, but what I’m talking about is how many bad pathogens it can kill and how many good and necessary bacteria can be replaced. I’ve just seen this stuff work miracles and it sounds like you’re needing a miracle right now.
I would be as hesitant to use the prednisilone too. Don’t blame you there. That’s just scary stuff.
Why did Evie get so sick? It could be from all the vaccines she’s had in her life, it could be from commercial cat food that’s loaded with grains, byproducts, horrible preservatives and toxic waste that is actually killing our pets. We’ve been lied to by the pet food companies for a long time now and thousands upon thousands of pets have died because of the horrific ingredients they’ve put into the foods. Cats can NOT tolerate grains in their food and when fed long term it causes cancers, allergies, kidney failure, liver failure, UTI’s and death.
I’m soooo deeply sorry that you and Evie are going through this. My heart breaks for both of you. I wish you all the best in whatever you decide to do. God Bless you.

If you want to consult with an emergency vet about what the results of the tests were, you can use the emergency vets in our city. Here’s their contact info, you can phone them and discuss it with one of the doctors. They’re excellent over there.
