Radiation && Cancer ?!?!?

Ok …
If radiation enters the body, and causes cancer, what happens?
As in … once as the radiation enters the body what happens, does the atoms in our body die??
I hope you know what i mean …

( Like i said what happens to the atoms, particals ect in our body after it enters, what happens for the radiation to cause cancer )

    There are different interactions, but simply speaking, the radiation interacts with atoms and ionizes them (ion=atom which has gained or lost an electron) OR directly hits the nucleus. Either interaction damages the atom and can result in either mutation or death of the atom. If the atom dies, it will not cause cancer. If the atom is damaged but is still able to divide (reproduce), it may cause cancer.

    Radiation is one of the factors that helps develop breast cancer although not the most important one. you should visit a doctor if you think u are at risk!
