Referal to breast clinic. Lump?
->
I have been referred to a breast clinic as i found a lump in my breast. After my GP examined it, he told me i would need to go to the breast clinic to have it checked out. My appointment is Tuesday and im very nervous.
Could it be cancer??

Becci, it could be cancer, but it could also be a fluid filled cyst. I’ve had one lump removed and two drained. None of mine were cancer. Many women have something called "fibrocystic breast disease" which isn’t a disease at all. It is just a condition of having lots of lumps in breasts, and the number increases as we age.
Now that you know there are other causes of lumps, you can relax a little. Take a deep breath and know that you are doing the right thing by following up on the lump. The truth here is simple: You won’t know until you know.
If it IS cancer, the earlier you deal with it, the better. Ignoring it or "hoping" won’t help.
I’ve been through this for more than 20 years, but I still go for my mammograms and follow-ups, just in case this time it is something worse than what it probably is.
I know what an eternity a few days can seem when you’re waiting for tests and results.
Nobody here can tell you whether this lump will turn out to be cancerous or not; you won’t know anything until the tests are done and you get the results. What I can tell you is that most breast lumps aren’t cancerous.
I hope yours isn’t.
Best wishes
My lump wasn’t cancer – most aren’t. Don’t start to panic now.
I know how nervous you must be, waiting is always so hard. Try to stay calm and if you can, bring someone with you to your appointment for support. It could be nothing serious…but something that should be checked and monitored. And if it turns out that cancer is suspected…again….try not to panic…..just take it one step at a time. My very best to you.
