what are the chances of female breast cancer survivals in the uk if the cancer is detected at an early stage? Does it require surgery, chemotherapy or will medicines do the trick?

We have a lower post cancer survival rate in UK than many European countries because of late diagnosis etc.
If detected early, you will probably need surgery and radiotherapy, but may not need chemo – it depends on the stage it is caught.
However, there is one other factor that is often overlooked in Britain – once treatment is finished you are usually given hormonal drugs to take for the next five years – and here in UK we are often not very good at treating side effects of these drugs. In France, Germany etc. they accept this as part of treatment and you are usually given excellent help.
If you have side effects, and your doctor can’t help, go to http://www.after-cancer.com for details of clinically trialled products developed in France, USA etc. for dealing with many side effects.
