A few comments. Radiation offers excellent pain relief. With current technologies there will be no sunburns or skin reactions. The radiation damages all cells that it hits. The cancerous cells lack the ability to repair themselves whereas the non-cancerous ones can. I have treated cancer patients for over 15 years and believe it is an excellent modality and should definitely be a treatment choice. Radiation treatments kill cancer cells. However, radiation kills some good cells too, which is why some radiation patients lose hair, etc. But in the long run, radiation will get rid of the cancer and hopefully ease some of her pain.
